The Name Game

https://www.pinterest.com/pin/299489443943330412/

I have known the meaning of my name ever since I was a little girl. I remember looking up my friends' names online all the time to find the meaning of them. The name "Amy" is French in origin, which makes me very glad that I decided to learn French. It comes from the verb "aimer" which means to like or to love, so it is no surprise to me that my name means "beloved". I have always loved being around my friends and family because I know that I am around people that I love and that love me as well. I get my energy from knowing that I have people who love me, no matter how quirky I know I can be. I love my name because I feel as if it shows what I want to be, which is beloved by many.

My personality changes all the time depending on who I am with. I have always been talented at slightly tweaking my personality to fit whatever group of people I happen to be with. There are times, however, that my personality can take a huge turn. I can be extremely quiet and shy when I am in a group of strangers or acquaintances, but when I am with a close group of friends or my family I am known to get very talkative and a little hyper. I am defined by both of these personalities because, even though they are different, they are both a part of me as a whole. I never feel as if I have to "choose" which Amy I want to be, because I know that I am still myself no matter which side of myself I am showing.

  1. I like how you explained your name's origin. You didn't just say it was French, but rather explained what word it actually originated from and that word's meaning. I also liked how you connected your name to the language you were studying in school, it was a nice little thing.
I wish you would've elaborated more on the last part of the second question about being an individual, but the same time apart of a group. However, overall, I thought this post was really nice!
    Fantastic Job!

  2. I was immediately drawn to your post because of your photo. My sister has one of those explaining her name, too, but hers is not as spot on as yours. When I read it, I thought it described you perfectly! You are very creative, involved with the arts, and generous. I like how you said that you slightly alter your personality to fit the group that you are with; a lot of people do this but not many are brave enough to admit it. Awesome post, Amy!

  3. Hey Amy! What an amazing post! As I was reading the little name definition picture, I just nodded my head yes, "Yup that's so Amy" because you are so beloved because of your generosity (i.e. making cookies for everyone). Also I never made the connection between the verb, aimer and Amy which makes complete sense with their meanings. And as far as having as having different personalities, I have a similar situation to yours with being introverted or extroverted depending on the people I'm with.

  5. I really like that you applied the meaning of your name to your actual life, which makes the meaning of your name relevant to you. I enjoyed reading the description of your name and finding characteristics that match your personality, like the fact that you are most definitely drawn to the arts! I wish they had one of those name cards for my name but that would be very unlikely, so maybe I'll make my own!
